Antique Hotel, a three-star hotel owned by the Merchant King, is the first adobe hotel in the world located in the historical texture of Yazd city, next to the bazaar and Khan Square. It was established in 1376 in a historical house with the same name belonging to one of the reputable merchants of Yazd, Haji Ali Askar Shirazi. Haji Ali Askar Shirazi was awarded the title of Merchant King by the king of that time, Naser al-Din Shah, due to his positive performance in the field of commerce. This house has 23 rooms, each with its own unique features. The walls and ceilings of most rooms are painted, with some using gold watercolor for painting. The beautiful and remarkable paintings in this house are the works of Shirazi artists that took 10 years to complete in a narrative. Different parts of this house include a beautiful entrance, an octagonal hall, winter and summer sections, a spring bedchamber, a royal seat, fascinating wooden columns, an interesting courtyard, a beautiful wind catcher, a large pool, and underground passageways that connect different parts of the building to enhance the beauty of this structure.
