Description

Arg-e-Gogad Hotel is the second brick and mortar structure in Iran that dates back four centuries. Currently, this complex, with beautiful rooms equipped with modern amenities, serves as a guesthouse welcoming domestic and foreign tourists. There used to be a royal sitting area at the north entrance, which is now used as a special suite, and there was a water pool in this royal sitting area. Whenever the door was set on fire by attackers, the guards would extinguish the fire by emptying the water from the pool. Furthermore, there is a well in the southeast part of Arg-e-Gogad, indicating that provisions for drinking water had also been made for days of resistance and siege. At the entrance door, there are two knockers; the larger one is called the male knocker, and the smaller one is called the female knocker. Unlike other regions in Iran, the female knocker in Golpayegan is placed on the right side.
